How you can tell is that the ship is much larger than the base it sits on.
Beautiful replica of the USS Excelsior from the movie Star Trek III The Search For Spock.  The Excelsior commanded by Captain Styles played by James B Sikking in the movie.  "Remember" The Excelsior transwarp computer drive was sabotaged by Scotty as it tried to chase down the Enterprise escaping the Starbase to get Spock.
